Any questions?

How old do I need to be to access services?

To access services through My Aged Care you need to be over 65 years of age or 50 years of age if you are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. To access support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme you need to be under 65 years of age and have a permanent disability.

How much will services cost me?

The cost of services will depend on the funding you receive. The team at Life Choices – Support Service will be able to advise you of the cost while working on the support that is right for you.

Is the funding means tested by the Government?

The Australian Government’s Home Care Packages are means tested. The amount you have to pay is worked out by Human Services when you receive a Home Care Package and a letter will be sent to you advising you of the outcome.

Do I get to choose what support I need?

Yes, as long as the support is within the guidelines of your specific funding. Life Choices – Support Services pride themselves on Person-Centred support. A team member will work with you so you can choose what is important to you and what supports you require to live the life you choose.

If I am not happy with my Life Choices – Support Services facilitator or direct support worker will you listen to me and work with me to fix the problem or change to another worker?

Life Choices – Support Services works tirelessly on continuous improvement. All complaints or issues are dealt with in a timely manner. We ensure that the outcome is positive for you and suits your needs and choice.

Will my privacy be respected?

At Life Choices - Support Services we recognise and respect the privacy expectations of our consumers and the requirements of applicable federal and state privacy laws. We believe that making you aware of how we use your personal information, and to whom it is disclosed, will form the basis for a relationship of trust between us and you the consumer. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorised access or intrusion.

Can I have someone with me to support me during discussions?

All consumers of Life Choices – Support Services are encouraged to nominate an advocate if they feel that they need one. An advocate can speak for you, support you and ensure that your choices and opinions are heard and respected. An advocate always takes your side and remains loyal to you. Not everyone will need an advocate and some people only require an advocate at certain times or for certain functions. You can choose if and when you want to use your advocate.
